I think I have a truck lined up for Saturday. I'll get directions/beverage preference when I confirm it.

Ok got some progress to report.
I was thinking about which way I want to go with my build(IE: spend money) When I noticed all of them involved rebuilding my np205 transfer case. So I got on with it!
I stripped it and cleaned it. but it still looked crappy and rough... so I cleaned off the casting marks and hit it with the blending disk.

looks like chrome till the rust sets in. I'll paint it when its done.
The guts:

The new parts:

I did a few more less obvious things this week. I relocated my rear shocks, I tied my upper frame together at the front. I re-ran the wires for the tail lights so that they stay inside the body and off the frame. I drained and checked both diffs they look ok the rear was perfect the front had a tiny amount of water but was not milky. I think its the pinion seal because it leaked before. thumbs up

I got the transfer case finished and painted. I bench tested it (by hand) all the combinations that should be available are, and all the ones that shouldn't be available aren't.  Boogy dance
I'm getting ready to pull a running 454 from a 1 ton tomorrow. I noticed that the rubber is sticking out of the harmonic balancer. I hope there isn't any internal carnage. shake head
I remembered my camera today but the batteries were dead, cursing maybe tomorrow.

I'm going to give the 454 in the 1ton a good going over, run it compression check, pull the timing chain cover. If its ok I'm going to run it. I don't have the money to do the doubler and the rebuild. this looks like the best compromise. I just emailed north west fab about this http://northwestfab.com/203-205adaptor.html
I want a price with shipping and no surprises...

Ok more pics...
new shock mounts my old broken ones looked like they were limiting wheel travel.

the new setup is right in the middle of their travel. 6" up 6" down. thumbs up
I took a ton of measurements for the doubler...
203 adapter:

installed showing stickout:

input depth:

th400 output length:

np208 adapter thickness:

np203 adapter thickness:

the 208 adapter will fit the 203 with drilling & tapping. it is 4" long
the 203 adapter will fit perfectly and is 1" long but the transmission shaft is too long. it will bottom out in the 203. I gotta do a bit of research. hmm

No pictures today..
I ordered my doubler fro NWF http://northwestfab.com/203-205adaptor.html
I ordered a TH400 tailshaft from here: http://www.400raptor.com/
And I ordered these header flanges: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/p/7295,,_BandB-Chevy-Header-Flange-Plates.html?itemNo=header%20flange

I'm feeling broke! dunno
At the shop today on my transfer case I took out my 4" long 32 spline input and put in a 1" long 31 spline input for the doubler.  hmm

I got the 454 in the 1ton running, tomorrow I plan on compression testing it. It looks like it might be ok. thumbs up
